Khaidi No 150 box office collections: Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Telugu action-drama film ‘Khaidi No. 150’ set a new record. The makers of the movie on Sunday announced the film’s lifetime earnings are Rs 164 crore worldwide, making it a new record of sorts in the industry, reported IANS. With this film, Chiranjeevi has made his comeback to acting after 10 years of hiatus. Directed by VV Vinayak, the film also starred Kajal Aggarwal in lead role. It is an official remake of the Tamil blockbuster film ‘Kaththi’ that was released in 2014. In an official poster released, the filmmakers have said that the film has so far collected Rs 164 crore, and it is the highest-ever in south India in a single language. The cowds had surged into theatres and this happened despite the film receiving mixed reviews. The film, which had its release on the auspicious day of Sankranti, opened to electrifying response from fans. The film had a record breaking opening on its first day, raking in more than Rs 47 crore, befitting the film’s tagline ‘Boss Is Back’.
Financed by Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan and written by AR Murugadoss, the movie featured Chiranjeevi in dual roles, a social activist and a thief. The remake of Kaththi, the movie dealt with issues such as farmer suicides and water scarcity in India. But in the Telugu version, the makers had tweaked certain elements to give surprise to Chiranjeevi’s fans who have been waiting all this while.
The movie also features Ram Charan’s cameo, who shook legs with his father Chiranjeevi for the song ‘Ammudu Let’s Do Kummudu’.
